Ritter Cycle Racing Inc Case Study

The Ritter Cycle Racing website seems to have first made an appearance about November 1999 (or at least that is the first time that the internet way back machine first captured it.

While it was suitable for its time, it was well overdue for an overhaul.

Among other things, it automatically downloaded a midi file of Van Halen’s “Jump” every time you came to the page. As well as being incredibly intrusive, it was a major copyright breach.

One thing I found quite amusing was when the owner posted to his Facebook followers that his website was getting a new look, was one customer asking if “Jump” would still play when you went there. He was a little disappointed to learn that the answer was no.
